I Like Cruise Ships EXCLUSIVE – Over the past few days we have been able to source some of the most sought-after photos of the soon to be christened Celebrity EDGE
Port Everglades, Florida – Have you been wondering what the groundbreaking ship really looks like? Well, wonder no more. Since its arrival in Florida just a few days ago. The Celebrity Edge has only been sailing on inaugural trips to the Bahamas and back prior to its Christening in a few short days.
Edge is the prototype for an innovative new series of ships at Celebrity called the Edge Class. Designed using 3D imaging technology, the vessel features cabins that are open to the sea in a way that has never been seen before in ocean cruising.
More than 60 percent of Edge’s 1,467 cabins are what Celebrity is calling Infinite Verandas. In what is billed as a first for an ocean-going vessel, the cabins have balconies that are incorporated into the main cabin area.
Bi-fold doors in the rooms either can be completely closed, creating a traditional room area separated from a balcony area, or left open, creating a wide-open indoor space that is about 23 percent larger than traditional balcony cabins.
Celebrity Edge arrived into Port Everglades, in the Fort Lauderdale area, on Monday after a 15-night transatlantic crossing from the shipyard in France where it had been under construction for more than a year.
She begins her inaugural season sailing alternating seven-night eastern and western Caribbean cruise itineraries, with her Maiden Western Caribbean voyage departing on December 9, 2018, and her Maiden Eastern Caribbean voyage departing on December 16, 2018.
Then, in spring of 2019, Celebrity Edge crosses the Atlantic again to offer guests stunning vistas of the Mediterranean with a range of seven- to 11-night sailings visiting iconic cities, including Barcelona and Rome.
World’s leading interior designers
Designed completely in 3-D, and featuring the work of A-list global architects and designers, the 2,918-guest Celebrity Edge aims to make discerning global travellers redefine how they experience the world and how intimate a vacation can be.
With Celebrity Edge, Celebrity has more than doubled the number of available suites, adding two spectacular new categories. At the top of the line are two new Iconic Suites situated above the ship’s bridge.
These near 2,600 sq. ft., two-bedroom, two-bathroom suites feature mind-blowing views thanks to panoramic windows enveloping the dining room, living room and bedrooms. The 700 sq. ft. veranda offers a 270-degree view of the ocean.
I Hope you’ve enjoyed this brief walkaround what surely is going to become one of the most iconic ships both now and for years to come. Setting the standard in luxury cruising.
