A Breaking news story is coming to light about a Man Overboard. This time its being reports as being from a ship sailing in the Caribbean.

At the time of writing this story, the news and information is very limited. However what we do know is it happened in the overnight hours of last night, between 3 am and 6 am. According to the ships tracking device, the incident happened between St Kitts and St Thomas.

Man overboard

The ship in question is the Royal Caribbean cruise ship, Symphony of the Seas. At present, it’s sailing a 7-day cruise from the Port of Miami calling at St Kitts, St Thomas and the Royal Caribbean private island of Coco Cay. Returning back to Miami on the 17th August 2019.

The initial report of a man overboard was reported first by the cruise advocate site Cruise Law News. Their site has always been a strong proponent of how and why man overboard’s happened. Including questioning cruise lines for not having the appropriate man overboard technology in place to quickly respond to these types of incidents.

In a statement provided to the popular cruise website, Cruise Hive Royal Caribbean had this to say about what has happened overnight.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic incident that occurred on the Symphony of the Seas en route to Saint Thomas this morning. Our care team is providing support and assistance during this difficult time”

“Upon the initial report that an Australian adult male had gone overboard, our ship immediately turned, launched a rescue boat, and conducted a full-scale search. We are working closely with authorities and will continue to assist in their investigation”

This is the third such incident to be reported by I Like Cruise Ships in the past week. In the 2 prior man overboard incidents both occurred onboard Princess Cruise ships sailing in the far east. You can read more about that at the below link:
