Propulsion issues

Propulsion Issues have struck once again, this time onboard Carnival Dream. it was only a few weeks back that this site was reporting on issues with the Carnival Vista including the need to take the ship out of service for much-needed repairs.

The Carnival Dream is currently sailing a 5-day cruise from the Port of Galveston and has had to skip the port of Progreso as the ship is having to sail at a reduced speed. Thus allowing the ship to get back to its homeport in time to disembark the guests from the current voyage.

The letter delivered the cabins of the guests onboard goes on to say:

“We are experiencing an issue that is affecting our maximum cruising speed. Our team has been working through the night to complete the necessary work. However, It is now apparent that we will not be able to proceed to Progreso as planned”

“We will have a fun day at sea instead and head directly to our final destination of Galveston, Texas. We expect to dock on Thursday, as scheduled”

“We know you were looking forward to your time in port and sincerely apologize for the disappointment”

The letter goes on to point out that all pre-purchased shore excursions will be refunded to their onboard Sale & sign account along with a $50.00 onboard credit to enjoy whilst still on board as a gesture of gratitude.

Of course, the onboard credit doesn’t make up for the missed port call, and I am sure many people onboard the current sailing are very disappointed in the situation.

Of course, Propulsion issues arent something new to Carnival Cruise Line. We only just recently reported on the Carnival Vista having to go out of service and sailing to Freeport, Bahamas to complete necessary repairs to that ship.
