Pier Rescue Heros

Carnival Cruise Line along with local officials from the Cruise Terminal of St Thomas has held a ceremony to honor the Pier Rescue Heros that help save a Crusie Passengers life.

St Thomas natives Kashief Hamilton and Randolph Donovan Jr. were honored this past Monday for rescuing a wheelchair-bound cruise passenger who accidentally fell off the WICO dock on St. Thomas last week.

The incident happened on the dock alongside the Carnival Fascination cruise ship, the passenger was being escorted in a wheelchair by a family member at the time when she accidentally fell off the dock.

At the time it happened the guest was pulled from the water and seen by the ships medical personal and later released after sustaining no injuries.

Pier Rescue Heros Honored

The ceremony honoring the rescuers featured representatives from the U.S. Virgin Islands and Carnival, including Sen. Myron Jackson, Virgin Islands Legislature; Joseph Boschulte, commissioner of tourism; Kevin Rodriguez, deputy chief of staff in the Governor’s Office; and Captain Candeloro Donato.

In a statement released by Carnival Cruise Line, a spokesperson said “A complimentary replacement wheelchair has been provided for the duration of the cruise. Our most sincere thanks and appreciation to these individuals for their heroic efforts in assisting this guest.”
