News is surfacing about the temporary change in homeport for the Carnival Sunrise. At present, it is sailing out of the Manhattan cruise terminal.

For sailing from the 16th September, guests are being requested to embark the ship from the Brooklyn Cruise terminal a further 9 miles away. Now that might not seem too far, but considering things like traffic and parking it can cause some concern for already booked passengers.

In a letter sent to guests already booked on the Carnival Sunrise it states the following:

Port officials have informed us that Pier 92 at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal will be undergoing repairs. As a result, your cruise will now depart from the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal (72 Bowne St Brooklyn, NY 11231)

On September 16, the Carnival Sunrise will reposition to Brooklyn. This process will take several hours, thus delaying the embarkation process.

Guests should be informed that the start of embarkation will commence approximately 2 hours later than originally planned. All guest must be on board no later than 5 pm local time.

Of course, this isn’t happening for a few weeks, and in that time its hoped everyone will be able to make alternative arrangements be it for parking or hotel or airport transfers.
