Hurricane relief

In the wake of Hurricane Dorian and its ongoing severe weather, it has produced over the past 7 days. Carnival Cruise Line has come out offering support and relief if any when the Bahamas is ready for it.

In a statement provided to I Like Cruise Ships Carnival has mentioned the following.

“Carnival Cruise Line, together with Carnival Corporation, today pledged its support to the government and people of The Bahamas as they assess the damage from Hurricane Dorian and begin recovery efforts”

Of course, for now, Carnival has to wait for the Bahamian Government to make assessments of each island. If and when it’s needed the cruise line is going to be at the ready to offer any assistance needed.

Carnival Cruise Line’s President went on to say ” Our hearts go out to our Bahamian family at this difficult time. We have been in close communication with government officials throughout the weekend and stand ready to provide humanitarian and economic assistance,”

“Our focus will be on the priorities as established by the government and emergency relief officials.”

One of the main companies that employ a large number of Bahamians is the Grand Bahamas Shipyard, and with that, they have pledged to help and support its workers and families in any way they can.

Carnival remains fully committed to its announced Grand Bahama port development project, which will be an important part of rebuilding the island of Grand Bahama.

Over the last 48 hours, Hurricane Dorian was almost stationary over Grand Bahama Island, with little or no movement for close to 30 hours. At one point it was packing winds of 185 miles per hour. It has moved eastwards towards Florida and is gradually moving up the eastern seaboard of the United States.

Carnival Corporation’s CEO Arnold Donald posted the following statement regarding their support for the Bahamas:

On behalf of all of us at Carnival Corporation and our cruise line brands, let me begin by saying our thoughts and prayers go out to the great people of The Bahamas — our friends and partners for many years. It was very emotional seeing reports of Hurricane Dorian’s impact over the past couple days. Our hearts go out to those who have lost friends and loved ones, and whose homes and businesses have been destroyed or damaged
